St. Charles represented at 4-H and FFA horse show

A number of St. Charles Parish residents took part in the 43rd annual Louisiana 4-H and Future Farmers of America State Horse Show held July 10-14.

Louisiana State University Associate Vice Chancellor Dwight Landreneau said the horse program takes a lot of training and hard work.

“We teach you leadership, citizenship and sportsmanship,” Landreneau said. “I hope you will take what you learn here to better your community.”

The St. Charles Parish 4-H State horse Show results are as follows:

– Bailey Melancon: second place in Reining, 13 and under; fourth place in Western Pleasure; Ninth place in Western Showmanship.

– Raven Winters: second place in Western Horsemanship, 14 and over; fourth place in Western Pleasure.

– Terry Lecompte: third place in Stock Horse Pleasure, 14 and Over.

Because of their success, both Melancon and Winters qualified and attended the 4-H Regional Horse Show in Perry, Ga.
