St. Charles 4-H member wins all-inclusive junior wildlife trip to Port Fourchon to fish & crab

What’s a great way to be rewarded for outstanding 4-H project work and record keeping?

How about a three-day all expense paid trip to Port Fourchon to fish and crab as well as learn about the wetlands, the shrimp industry and the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port. Keaton Northington, a member of the Family Home Educators 4-H Club, has been named a state winner in the Jr. Wildlife Records Contest and will get to go to the Fourchon in August to do all of these things.

Northington submitted his 4-H wildlife related records to win the trip along with 11 other 4-H members from across the state.

Northington submitted his Wildlife, Forestry, Environment, Shooting Sports and 4-H President’s records to win the trip. He has also been named an Outstanding Club Member in St. Charles Parish.

This past year he was a State Blue Ribbon winner in the Sixth Grade Achievement Records Contest.

All home-schooled students in St. Charles Parish are eligible to participate in the Family Home Educators 4-H Club.

The 4-H Club program is sponsored by the LSU AgCenter’s Cooperative Extension Service. There are approximately 500 4-H members in St. Charles Parish in 12 clubs. The 4-H program also works with various schools on character education and enrichment programs.
