Sparks flying

The Arc and Spark mobile demonstration was presented to Mimosa Park students by Doug Rhodes of Entergy. He was assisted by Keith Painter, Darren Willis, Larry Tatman and Matt Mollere.

Keith Painter demonstrated the dangerous effects of holding on to a kite string entangled on a live electrical wire.  First, second and third graders were very impressed by the visual effects that occurred when Painter brought everyday items in contact with an 8,000 volt power line.

The linemen were all equipped with safety uniforms safety gloves, hard hats, fire retardant shirts, and other safety gear. Teachers and students are still talking about the demonstrations.
