Solar power coming to farmers’ market on July 17

Farmers’ market visitors will get the chance to learn more about solar energy this weekend.

The German Coast Farmers’ Market will host representatives from Joule Energy on July 17 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The representatives will demonstrate the basic concepts of using solar energy panels by powering fans at the market. They will also explain the process behind the power, financial incentives to using solar power and simple steps to take around the house to decrease energy consumption.

Ann Montgomery, with the market, said that the energy company may be invited back if many people seem interested in the technology.

Joule Energy is a Louisiana owned and operated company. It provides power using solar PV panels and solar hot water installations.
