School celebrates, remembers loved ones

A memorial blood drive and family fun day were held at R.K. Smith Middle School on April 17.

The 4th annual blood drive is put on each year by the school and student Kaleb Champagne. This year it honored Nicole LeBeauf, principal of R.K. Smith Middle who died in 2009, and Trudy Plaisance, a student at the school who passed away this year.

This is the first year that the drive has been held on the same day as the school’s family fun day.

“We thought it would be nice to try to encourage more people to come out,” said Brian Champange, Kaleb’s father.
