River Region Ballet’s new dance studio open in parish

The River Region Ballet, which has been the premiere producer of ballet and drama performances throughout the River Parishes, will now provide weekly dance classes for the St. Charles Parish area.

The new dance studio will provide a fun learning environment for students ages 3-18.

Classes begin Aug. 24 in disciplines such as ballet, pointe, tap and jazz.

Since 1994, the River Region Ballet has promoted dance performance and dance education in the River Parishes.

Registration for the upcoming 2015-16 season will be held Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon and Aug. 4 and 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 15146 River Road.

“The River Region Performing Arts and Cultural Center is excited about the opening of the River Region Ballet’s School of Dance,” said Henry Sorbet, manager of the River Region Ballet and the River Region Drama Guild.

“This project has been years in the making and we look forward to the future and all that it holds,” Sorbet said. “Our community has truly been bless by our past performances and we hope to continue producing quality programs for all to participate and attend.”

ToniAnn Chetta, a Louisiana native and respected performer, will be leading the ballet school instruction as Artistic Director. She has over 15 years of experience performing and teaching throughout the country and Louisiana.
