River Parishes Girl Scouts earn bronze and silver awards

Girl Scouts from St. Charles and St. John parishes once again earned the Girl Scout’s highest award.

Luling Girl Scout Junior Troop 20019 earned the Girl Scout bronze award for informing their community about the 3 R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle. Besides participating in community clean-ups, the girls shared with Girl Scout Daisies how to recycle and reuse items, as well as researching and then creating informative posters they placed in schools in their community. The scouts are Lauren Errington, Kennedy Ertel, Laila Harding and Giavanna Raby. Their project advisor was Gina Raby.

Girl Scout Cadette Troop 20588 in Destrehan earned the Girl Scout silver award for cleaning up and beautifying their community through a variety of projects including plantings, trash pick-up at a park and repainting a USA map in a local school playground. The scouts are Brianna Anderson, Faith Bolden, Emily Madere, Alexis Robertson, Hannah Robin, Jessie Mae Sandolph and Josie Taylor. Their project advisor was Hollie Pfister.

Rebekah Travis in Des Allemands, of Girl Scout Cadette Troop 20554, took on an individual project to give back to the church where her troop meets. She built a wooden bench to give St. Gertrude Catholic Church members a place to rest while waiting for church to start. Her project advisor was Denise Matherne.
