R.K Smith’s Reading Carnival scheduled Oct. 26

On Thursday, October 26th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at RK Smith Middle School, St. Charles Parish Public schools will sponsor the annual Preschool Reading Carnival.

This is our 10th year sponsoring this community event. This event has grown over the years. In 2016, we had over 120 families that participated.

All children 5 and under are invited to attend an evening of fun.  This event will build literacy awareness through fun, learning activities and storytelling.  Mother Goose will make a surprise appearance to tell a few of her favorite nursery rhymes.  Preschool teachers and STAR students design activities to inspire and engage students.

Representatives from Early Steps, the health clinic, fire department, the public library and the sheriff›s office will provide important demonstrations and information for families.

To add to the excitement, all children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. Each family attending will receive a bag filled with surprises.  Door prizes will be given to attendees.
