R. J. Vial makes fractions fun

Eric Breaux and Lia Webre, 5th graders in Mrs. Gruner’s class at R. J. Vial Elementary, compete in a game during math class.

Students use self-made fraction tiles to represent parts of a whole. They rolled dice to determine the fraction to use, while replacing pieces with equivalent fractions along the way. The object of the game is to use whatever tiles necessary to represent the numbers rolled to make a whole.
