Buddy Boe, chief administrative officer for St. Charles Parish, was named the 2014 Millennial Changemaker of Greater New Orleans by Social Renaissance.
The Millennials honor dynamic young professionals in the Greater New Orleans area who contribute to the community through public service, make significant strides in business sectors and serve as cultural ambassadors.
Boe was selected as a finalist in the Changemaker category and was announced the winner at the awards ceremony at the Civic Theatre in New Orleans. In addition to his work on flood insurance reform, Boe was recognized for his involvement in the River Region Young Entrepreneurs Academy for the past two years assisting students ages 12 to 18 start their own business, volunteering for WRBH Reading Radio for the Blind, and service on the board of the St. John United Way.
“I’ve always believed in improving the situation around me regardless of where life put me. There’s a saying that guides me to always live life to the fullest…when we die there will be two dates on our tombstone and in between those dates will be a dash. That dash represents every day we are alive. So make sure it counts. Make sure it’s deep. Live the dash,” said Boe during his acceptance speech.
Boe was among 25 individuals selected to participate in the National Association of Counties (NACo) Leadership Institute earlier this summer.
In addition, he was recently elected vice-chair of the NACo NextGeneration Committee.
