Library showcases summer-camp art
The St. Charles Art Guild continues to share its 15th summer Kids’ Visual Arts Camp Showcase at the West Bank Regional Library on Lakewood Drive. The show consists of pieces that were selected by each primary grade student who participated in the week-long camp.
Mississippi River Clay artist Lorraine Gendron, and artist teachers Nancy Kiesman and Laurie Abadie led the primary grade students through techniques that adult artists use. Director Mary Sue Carter said that several of the young students commented on their camp evaluations about how exciting it was to use new and artist-quality media for the first time.
The program was supported in part by funds from the Louisiana State Arts Council and the Louisiana Division of the Arts as administered by the Houma Terrebonne Arts and Humanities Council, and the United way of St. Charles as administered by the River Region Arts and Humanities Council.
