Michael Williams takes stage at fest

Michael Aaron Williams will be performing Friday, Sept. 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the annual St. Charles Rotary’s Alligator Festival in Luling.

This is Williams’ third time taking the stage at the event.

Earlier this year, Williams, who is a local musician and Hahnville High school graduate, was on of 64 finalist chosen for CMT’s Music City Madness competition.

The network’s online contest is the first user-generated talent search that offers undiscovered singer/songwriters a chance to showcase their talent and let fans decide who takes home the prize in the online battle of the bands.

Williams describes his music as unique and points out that it doesn’t fit into one category.

“I really don’t write my music to fit a certain genre,” he said. “I write what I feel, so I may write something country, then something alternative, and then a ballad.”

Although no records have been professionally released, Williams has given out free CDs containing several songs to fans at his recent shows.
