“New Moon” Premiere draws parishioners

The Twilight Saga: New Moon premiered on Friday, Nov. 20th and theaters everywhere gave Twilight fans early viewing times starting at 12:01 a.m.

Being able to experience a movie with so many people is an event to say the least.

Looking around I was amazed to see how many people I knew and that the Twilight following consist of people of all ages, not just the young tween and teen crowd. Kim Matherne told me she arrived at the Palace Theatre in Harahan at 4 p.m. to get her position in line and that was only the beginning on her long evening.

Kim and her fellow movie goers were able to find their seats at around 7:30 p.m. and made themselves comfortable for the wait until the movie started.

I found Kayliegh Eppling and her high school friends sitting on the lobby floor waiting in line for their turn to enter into the theatre.

They were excited and could not wait to see the movie.

Speaking to theatre manager, Matthew Theriot, I found out that I was among 3108 other people to purchase a ticket for a 12:01am showing at the Elmwood Palace Theatre in Harahan.

After a short delay, about nine movie screens played New Moon simultaneously at this location.

Although it was a long night, my friend and I enjoyed the movie but the experience was worth it all. We met some nice people, ended up sitting with some other friends we met up with, and had some great laughs that I am sure we will remember for a long time.
