The Luling Volunteer Fire Department held its new officer installation ceremony on Jan. 14 at the Fr. Cote Center in Ama.
During the event, awards were also handed out. Chris Switzer was named Firefighter of the Year, Buddy Weems was given the Safety Award, Jason Bergeron earned the leadership awards, Chief Pat Beard was named Fireline Officer of the Year and Phillip Matherne was named Rookie of the Year.

Membership in the department is open to everyone – no prior experience or training is required. The station is also open to support members who do not want to fight fires.
