N.O. seafood festival set for this weekend

The Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board is inviting everyone to the first-ever New Orleans Seafood Festival featuring cooking demonstrations by the very finest French Quarter chefs, the Louisiana Fishermen’s Village, where fishermen will sell their catch right off the boat, and music by Louisiana greats.

Free festival events will be staged throughout the weekend of June 8, 9 and 10 at the Louisiana State Museum’s Old U.S. Mint at 400 Esplanade Ave. from noon to 7 p.m. daily.

The Shell Chef’s Cooking Demo Stage features some of the great chefs of the French Quarter.

Festival-goers are encouraged to enjoy their favorite seafood dishes at one of these fine dining establishments, as the chefs will be offering special Festival menus.

The New Orleans Seafood Festival and the LSPMB created the Louisiana Fishermen’s Village, a special section of the festival, to extend the opportunity to fishing families to sell direct to festival-goers.

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc. booked the well-loved Louisiana musicians who will be performing at two stages on the grounds.

The festival is free and open to the public.
