The 55th annual St. Charles Parish Festival beauty pageant was held earlier this month at Sacred heart School in Norco.
The theme was “Winter Wonderland” and past Miss St. Charles Parish Brandie Clement, past Teen St. Charles Parish Festival Queen Kristen Latour and 2013 LAFF Queen of Queens and 2012 Miss Queen of Hearts Erika Beck co-emceed the event.
Taylor Christen Rebowe was crowned the 55th Miss St. Charles Parish Festival Queen. The Norco resident is the daughter of Rusty and Darla Rebowe.
Rebowe works at a local salon as a cosmetologist and makeup artist. Included in her future career plans are mastering the techniques of hair design and makeup artistry and becoming a renowned stylist. Her hobbies include fashion, dancing, running, working out and volunteering to help others. Rebowe also won the fashion and people’s choice awards.
She has been the past recipient of numerous awards including the Harry Hurst award in community service, the Rotary Scholarship Award for community service, the American Cancer Society award, two national dance titles and three Destrehan High School character awards for trustworthiness, compassion and honesty.
During high school, Rebowe was also chosen as lieutenant and co-captain of the Desty Darling Dance Team and as a staff member of American All-Star Dance Association.
Serenity Hair Salon of Norco sponsored Rebowe and her sweetheart escort was Vali Rupert.
Rebowe will represent St. Charles Parish and the festival by traveling throughout the state and competing for Queen Sugar at the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival in New Iberia the weekend of Sept. 27-29.
Jenna Mire, of Destrehan, was first alternate and Mandy Dallimore, of Norco, was named second alternate.
Faith Mae Ryan was crowned Teen St. Charles Festival Queen. The 16-year old St. Rose resident is the daughter of Randy and Janel Ryan.
She is a sophomore at Destrehan High School and is a member of numerous organizations including the national award-winning Desty Darlings Dance Team, Beta Club, Student Council and the Nationals Honor Society.
Ryan’s future plans are to graduate from high school with an honors diploma and to attend Louisiana State University to pursue a career in pediatric physical therapy. Her hobbies include dancing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
Faith was sponsored by All-Star Electric Inc. and her sweetheart escort was Emma Ryan. Emily Hymel of Destrehan was first alternate to the queen and fashion winner.
Both Rebowe and Ryan received a banner, an ornamental piece of crystal, the use of custom designed crowns, a scholarship award, rings, gift certificates and numerous other prizes.
Rebowe will also receive a weekend sponsorship for the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival in New Iberia where she will be accompanied by Ryan.
All court members also received a scholarship award this year.
