Married to the Mop

“Married to the Mop” is Luling resident Barbara Colley’s fifth murder mystery solved by the owner of the Maid for a Day service, Charlotte LaRue. This is an easy reading novel with familiar locations and situations that make this a fun mystery read especially for locals.

The combination of Mafia don, missing faberge eggs, an abusive husband, a senile mother, scared relatives and a Mardi Gras party are just a part of the intense package of mystery. Charlotte LaRue gets roped into helping out even when her very life is at stake.Interesting and fast moving is this newest mystery from Colley. In fact it was written before and published just after Hurricane Katrina hit. The Garden District and other local places penned about the New Orleans area will hold a special fondness for readers.

Colley is a native of Ringgold, La., lived in Minden and latermoved to St. Charles Parish. She wrote six best-selling romance novels under the name of Anne Logan before embarking on her mystery-romance series starring Charlotte LaRue. She attended Louisiana Tech and Nicholls State. She and her husband, David, moved to St. Charles Parish after college. After 30 years of married life, they have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

Her novels are set in New Orleans, the city she loves to stroll through and stop for coffee and beignets at Cafe du Monde.

At the end of “Married to the Mop,” she writes a dedication to the people of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in which she wishes that the city depicted in the book reminds her readers of what a wonderful and unique city it was and, with God’s help, will be again.
