Macy Terrebonne wins Hamilton Award

Each year, an award is given out to students who are about to finish their junior year of high school and have exhibited superior achievements.

This year Destrehan High School’s very own, Macy Terrebonne, was named the 2009 Alexander Hamilton Citizenship Achievement National Silver Award.

Many people may not know what this award is or what the point of it is, but it is an award designed to recognize high school students for superior service to the community and achievement in academics.

This is a four year education program. Terrebonne found out about the award while searching for scholarships at www.scholarships.com.

While on the website, looking for financial aid, she found out about this program. Terrebonne said, “I went out on a limb, filling out the application, and I was really excited when I won.”

Terrebonne says she was shocked when she found out that she had won, because it was open to high school students throughout the entire country. She didn’t think she had a chance.
