Luling grad student’s work is, well … ‘pretty as a picture’

Ann Gassen of Luling, a graduate student in art at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, has been accepted in the eMerging Artists Exhibit hosted by the Morrison Institute for the Arts in Natchitoches. Her entry? That’s it pictured at left.

“This whole experience has been awesome for me,” she said. “It is an incredible feeling to have work in a gallery for people to see.”

Her photo, Bayou December, almost didn’t make it, though.

“I entered the eMerging Artists Exhibit totally last minute. The deadline was Dec. 30, and I decided on the 28th that I should send something in,” she said.

“In fact, the photograph that was accepted was taken on Dec. 23, which is why it is named ‘Bayou December.’”
