Fahrig – Grasperge Wedding

Dr. Brooke Marissa Fahrig and Dr. Britton John Poëte Grasperge were married in a garden ceremony on Saturday, March 3 at the Champagne Palace in Harahan.

The Rev. Steve Crump officiated. A reception followed in the main hall of the Champagne Palace.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Fahrig of Luling. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Barre of Hahnville, the late Ms. Marilyn Perrer Fahrig North, and the late Mr. Jasper Fahrig, Sr.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Grasperge of Arden, North Carolina and Mr. and Mrs. J. Steve Hooker of Lexington, South Carolina. He is the grandson of Mr. Frank McKee, the late Mrs. Hazel McKee, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jean Grasperge.

The bride, whose mother is the former Miss Shirlyn Barre, is a 1996 graduate of Hahnville High School and a graduate of Louisiana State University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in microbiology in 2000, a master of science degree in animal science in 2003, and a doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 2007.

She is currently employed by Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine as a D.V.M. resident training to specialize in laboratory animal medicine.

The groom, whose mother is the former Miss Linda McKee, is a 1999 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and a graduate of Louisiana State University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in animal science in 2003 and a doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 2006.

He is currently employed by Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine as a D.V.M. resident training to specialize in clinical pathology.

The couple honeymooned in Belize and currently reside in Baton Rouge.

Simon – Andrus Wedding

Melodie Ann Simon of Luling and Joseph Lefebvre Andrus III of Lafayette will marry in a 1 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, August 18 at Saint Mary Mother of the Church in Lafayette.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Ruby and Lester Hackman Jr. of Luling, and the granddaughter of Joretta Simon of Hammond.

She is a 2001 graduate of Hahnville High School.

Melodie works as a personal trainer at Red Lerille’s Health and Racquet Club and recently graduated from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, where she obtained a degree in kinesiology and sports management.

The groom-elect is the son of Janice and J.L. Andrus Jr.

He is the grandson of the late Eustis and Jessie Bodin of Franklin.

He is a graduate of Saint Thomas More High School and Louisiana State University with a degree in finance.

He is a commercial and residential real estate developer.

Smith – Laurent Wedding

Christy E. A. Sincavage, formerly of Luling, married Nathan E. Carlson of Sandy, Utah at the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 5.

Christy is the daughter of Bernard and Janet Sincavage, formerly of Luling, now residing in Pineville, and a 2002 graduate of Hahnville High School.

Christy also graduated from the University of Utah magna cum laude on May 3 with a degree in exercise and sports science.

She is employed by Intermountain Health Care for their Frappier acceleration and sports training program at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah.

Nathan is the son of Nils and Lou Ann Carlson, both of Sandy, Utah.

Nathan is a student at the University of Utah majoring in metallurgical Engineering.

He is employed by Usana Health Services where he works in Chinese-speaking customer service.

Nathan also served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taiwan, where he spoke Chinese.

The bridal party was as follows: Maid of Honor – Melissa Groom of Orem, Utah; Alissa Dupont of Luling; Ashley Rees of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jessica Rosser of Roy, Utah; Mindi Luce of Valencia, California and Hannah Grrom of Orem, Utah.

The groomsmen were: Wayne Carlson of Ocala, Florida; Nathan Slaughter of Salt Lake City, Utah; Allen Carlson of Sandy, Utah; Brandon Bishop of Sandy, Utah; Matt Whittaker of Sandy, Utah and Tommy Anderson of Salt Lake City, Utah.

The flower girl was Jane Groom and the ring bearer was Elliott Groom.

A garden reception hosted by Mr. and Mrs. John Nagel of Salt Lake City, Utah.

The couple left from New Orleans on May 12 for a 7-day honeymoon in Playa del Carmen, Mexico before returning to Salt Lake City where they will reside, while the groom completes his education and Christy resumes her career.
