Local restaurants will support Girl Scouts on Nov. 18

At a time when many non-profits are seeing a steady decline in donations, Girl Scouts Louisiana East is partnering with local restaurants throughout its 23-parish area to provide “Scouting for Supper” on Nov. 18. Participating restaurants will donate 10 to 20 percent of their dinner proceeds at this one-night event to the local council in support of Girl Scout programming.

“We appreciate the restaurants’ support of Girl Scouts through this new fundraising venue,” said Marianne Addy, vice president of communications and fund development for the local council. “Hopefully it will help our restaurant partners attract patrons and new clients to their business, while family and friends of Girl Scouts enjoy a great meal that supports Girl Scouts. If it’s successful, we plan to hold many more Scouting for Supper events.”

Participating restaurants in St. Charles Parish are Zydeco’s Cajun Restaurant, 13228 Highway 90 in Boutte, Rotolos Pizzeria, 150 Ormond Center in Destrehan, and Marianos Italian Eatery, 12371 Highway 90 in Luling. For more information on the local council, visit www.gsle.org. On the restaurant night, patrons should tell their server or cashier that they are supporting Girl Scouts.

Restaurants interested in participating in “Scouting for Supper” in the future should contact Carrie Thomas at cthomas@gsle.org or (504)733-8220.
