At Mimosa Park Elementary, the kindergarteners are hard at work. School officials said they have learned so much since the beginning of the school year. During the school day, students participate in small, guided reading groups. The teacher works in groups of five or six to work on reading strategies.
In Heather Helou’s class, as pictured above, students are working on pointing to words as they read as well as using picture clues to help them decode words. School officials says they are well on their way to becoming great readers.
