Kids share their version of Thanksgiving recipes and blessings

From getting the turkey at the store to Mawmaw’s prized gumbo, they’re ready to celebrate

Before they all left for Thanksgiving break, area elementary students were asked about their Thanksgiving.

First- and second-graders from St. Rose, Allemands and Norco elementary schools offered humorous insights into how they see the holiday celebration, as well as what they’re thankful for this year.

Turkey isn’t the only main dish anymore for the holiday as many said they love dirty rice, gumbo and sweet potato pie, too. Most of them are grateful for their family while others are wishing for a baby sister, a video game and simply having food.

You can view them all, with the responses alongside each child’s picture, by picking up the Nov. 26 issue of the St. Charles Herald-Guide.
