The Hahnville High School Hi-Steppers traded their black dancing boots for white shrimp boots during a recent photo shoot that had the dancers posing with nets, moss, fishing poles and even a Cajun wash board.
The photos were for a Cajun cookbook fundraiser sponsored by the Hi-Steppers Parent Club to raise funds for the dance team’s activities for the 2011-2012 school year.
The girls took pictures in several scenic areas around Bayou Gauche and Des Allemands.
The cookbook will feature 250-300 recipes that are being submitted by Hi-Steppers and their family members.
Former Hi-Steppers can also send recipes by August 1 to be included in the cookbook. The cookbooks will sell for $20 and will be available late August before HHS home football games.
“We are so appreciative of the community support for this project,” said Brett Cazenave, 2011-2012 Parent Club President. “Mr. Arthur Matherne provided airboats for the girls for several pictures and they were able to experience a tour of Bayou Des Allemands. Tony and Ann Taylor provided Louisiana Sportsmen t-shirts for the girls to use in several pictures. Bruce McDonald allowed us to end the day at his camp where we took the final pictures for the book. And Percle’s Jump-n-Fun provided a water slide for the girls to enjoy at the end of a hot day. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s support.”
The day’s photographer was a former Hi-Stepper, Kali Brou Norton, who has recently established her own photography business, said Gina Locascio, Parent Club Vice President.

To submit recipes, the submission should be typed in Mircosoft Word with all measurements spelled out (i.e. teaspoon not tsp). Please submit your name and graduation year with your recipe by Aug. 1 to histeppersparentclub@yahoo.com.
