Helping others is their cup of tea

With the theme of “Live Well, Love Much, Laugh Often,” the St. Charles Women’s Club raised about $23,000 for area nonprofit organizations that directly help area residents.

The group’s annual 2015 TeaCup Auction held at the Chateau Country Club drew 300 ladies on March 14 who bid on 400 items.

The prizes were donated by individuals and businesses, ranging from restaurant gift certificates to Easter decorations.

This year’s theme was, “Live Well, Love Much, Laugh Often.”

“It was apparent throughout the event that all of these were going on. St. Charles Women’s Club is a civic, social and non-profit organization who will soon be celebrating its 50th year,” said Regina Allemand, publicity chairwoman of the 178-member group.

Allemand said it was a record breaking year for the SCWC in fundraising.  The SCWC TeaCup Auction has become one of the most looked forward to social events for the women of St. Charles parish.

Established in 1966, the SCWC meets at First Union Presbyterian Church in Luling.

The club includes natives of the areas, as well as women who have moved to the parish from all over the world.

During the year, the club provides both time and funds for volunteer programs that help improve education in the parish.

Each year, the funds raised by the club are distributed to benefit charities and service organizations in the community.

The group’s purpose is to unite the women of St. Charles parish in service to the community.
