Health center offers flu shots while supplies last

St. Charles Community Health Center, a not-for-profit health clinic, has announced that they are administering flu shots for $15 as long as supplies last. Two thousand shots are now available. “The flu shots will be available to anyone who walks through the door of our main campus at 843 Milling Ave. in Luling aged six months and up,” stated Mark Keiser, St. Charles Community Health Center (SCCHC) CEO.

Shots will also be available ONLY to children at their Kenner facility at 200 W. Esplanade Suite 310. “No appointments are required, walk-ins are welcome,” said Keiser.

The Luling campus is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Kenner office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Medicare patients should bring their card and SCCHC will bill Medicare for their immunizations.

Since Hurricane Katrina, SCCHC has seen its role as a health care leader and provider in the region expand as one of the few fully operational medical facilities in Southeast Louisiana.

“Since Katrina, we have administered over 10,000 immunizations for flu, tetanus, hepatitis, and more at no cost to patients,” Keiser continued.

“Flu shots prevent hospitalizations and deaths in vulnerable populations and are a continuing part of our commitment to help citizens of southeast Louisiana regardless of their status or residence. A healthier community benefits everyone.”
