St. Charles Parish Inclusive Camp welcomes campers ages five to 14 years old, with or without disabilities. The camp is held at Harry Hurst Middle School in Destrehan Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and costs $25 per week per child.
“Qualified staff like occupational therapists, physical education and regular education instructors, work directly with the children during our summer sessions,” Sandra O’brien, camp director told the Herald-Guide.
“The camp is run by 10 trained counselors, some are para educator’s in the St. Charles Parish School System,” she continued.
The next camp session begins July 9 and will be held for three weeks.
“Activites for the kids include art projects, and field trips. Guest speakers come and talk with the children on various topics related to their community,” O’brien said.
“The children go on field trips like bowling and do physical exercises,” she continued.
“St. Charles Parish Recreation Department helps fund the camp.”For more information about the camp contact Sandra O’Brien at 985-785-6829.
