HHS seniors Cade Mataya and David Broussard were the recipients of the Hahnville High School Class of 1957 Anniversary Scholarships on May 2 at Hahnville High School’s awards ceremony held at Hahnville High School in Boutte.

The $2,500 scholarships are awarded to students who will enter the freshman class at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

One scholarship is for a student entering the educational field to insure the development of teachers who will continue to promote the importance of education.  The second scholarship is for a student entering the engineering field to provide a basis for continual technical contributions from Hahnville High School graduates.

The two annual recipients will apply their awards to their freshman year.

The scholarships are in recognition of the excellent preparation that HHS teachers, coaches and principals provided for the class of 1957, and in recognition of the 1957 classmates who shared in that educational experience.
