Residents in and around the Luling area can get screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture. St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church will host Life Line Screening on June 24 at 234 Angus Drive in Luling.
Screenings identify potential cardiovascular conditions, such as blocked arteries and irregular heart rhythm, abdominal aortic aneurysms and hardening of the arteries in the legs. The bone density screening assesses osteoporosis risk for both men and women.
Packages start at $139 and the screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete, but the cost of money and time might be worth it.
Stroke is the third leading cause of death and a leading cause of permanent disability. Eighty percent of stroke victims had no apparent warning signs prior to having a stroke and preventative ultrasounds can help avoid a stroke. Screenings are fast, non-invasive, painless and convenient.
