First Baptist Church of Luling welcoming newcomers

Organized on Sept. 19, 1954, the First Baptist Church of Luling continues to grow in members and spirit. The church, which began with 70 charter members led by the Rev. Russell Locke as its first pastor, is located at 921 Paul Maillard Road in Luling. Tim Buford is the church’s current pastor.

The church’s purpose statement is “to impact lives by worshiping God, reaching individuals and families for Jesus, equipping all believers for service, growing a fellowship that demonstrates love to everyone, empowering all to minister within the church, community and around the world.”

For Easter, the church will hold a 6:45 a.m. Community Easter Sunrise Service on the West Bank at the Bridge Park levee. It will be followed by a 7:30 a.m. Community Sunrise Breakfast at the church.

Daily, the church offers Bible School at 9:30 a.m. Sundays, as well as a 10:45 a.m. worship service. Preschool childcare is available for children two months to 5 years old. On Wednesdays, the church offers a 6:30 p.m. adult prayer meeting and adult choir practice.

Dedicated to connecting people to Christ, the church accepts the scriptures as its authority in matters of faith and practice.
