
Grace Collins of Destrehan with the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) Academic Studio was named a runner up in the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Young Artists’ Concerto Competition.Collins, a violinist, performed Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, and was among finalists in the 9 – 12 grade category. Her instructor is NOCCA faculty member Zorica Dimova at NOCCA Academic Studio, also in Destrehan.
Ben Mader of Metairie won the category and will perform in a concert with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra early this spring.
Collins is also one of the classical instrumental students under the direction of Classical Instrumental Department Chair Dr. Jee-Yeoun Ko.
NOCCA is Louisiana’s arts conservatory for high school students. It offers students from across the state tuition-free arts instruction in culinary arts, creative writing, dance, media arts (filmmaking and audio production), music, theater arts, visual arts and academics.
