Daughters of Zion help inmates’ children

The Alpha Daughters of Zion were able to spread holiday cheer to children of the female inmates at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center.

Valero Chemical Plant employees along with Barbara Clement Wilson and friends from St. Charles Parish provided gifts and clothes. Grandparents, relatives and guardians of the inmates’ children arrived at the Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church in Hahnville to receive the gifts from ministers Shirley Sims and Ivy Williams from the Alpha Daughters Outreach Center.

“No child should miss out on the joy of Christmas,” Sims said about the event.

Williams had similar sentiments.

“I am so grateful to those who donated gifts to the children. Just to see the smiles on the children’s faces and to hear expressions of gratitude from the relatives of the women we minister to at Nelson Coleman was an added blessing for me,” Williams said.
