The St. Charles Council on Aging has released its December calendar, which includes events open to St. Charles Parish seniors 60 years and older. The monthly list includes:
•“Sights, Sounds and Smells of Christmas” – A group event scheduled for Dec. 5 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Luling Activities Center. Caroling, dramatic readings, group activities, a Christmas photo booth and refreshments are on the schedule. Call Sharyn at 985-785-1981 for more information.
•55 Alive Defensive Driving Course – This event open to seniors is sponsored by the COA and the AARP. Sessions are available at the New Sarpy Center on Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the Hahnville Center on Jan. 5, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants are required to bring a bag lunch. •Scrap Booking and Calligraphy Art with Anne Hymel – This group meets every Thursday from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the New Sarpy Activity Center. Call Lois at 985-764-2412 for more information.
•Senior Art Show – The COA and the St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation will host a “Senior Art Show” on Dec. 11 at the 626 Pine St., Ste. A in Hahnville. •Travel Club – This month’s Travel Club will visit Lakeside Shopping Center for Christmas shopping on Dec. 10. Call 985-783-6683 for reservations.
•Exercise Classes – The COA sponsors exercise classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Fitness Club located at 13117 Highway 90 in Boutte.
•Literary Circle of Friends – This group meets every Friday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 145 Angus Dr. in Luling. Call Sharyn at 985-785-1981 for lunch reservations and transportation.
•Senior Dancers Expo Group – The COA hosts line dancing ever Wednesday at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Hahnville center. Instructed by Judy Goutierrez. Call 985-783-6683 for transportation reservations.
•Bidding 500 Card Club – This card club meets every Monday at the Hahnville Center with a beginners workshop from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and avid team play from noon to 3 p.m. Call 985-783-6683 for transportation.
