Comic book making workshop for teens at St. Charles libraries

Teens interested in art, drawing and comic books of all kinds are invited to attend a free Comic Book Making Workshop on Thursday, June 11 at the West Regional Library at 10:30 a.m. and St. Rose Library at 2 p.m.

The workshop is part of the “iLibrary” Teen Reading Program. Rob Guillory, a comic book artist from Lafayette will lead the workshops.

Each workshop will include an introduction to the comic-making process and a drawing exercise.

Participants will be able to view Guillory’s illustrations up close and observe drawing techniques used in computer graphics programs.

Seating is limited and participants are encouraged to register by phone or in person at West Regional Library or St. Rose Branch. West Regional Library is located at 105 Lakewood Drive in Luling, and St. Rose Branch is located at 90 East Club Drive in St. Rose.

Born, raised and currently based in Lafayette, Guillory’s artwork has been published by major companies as Image Comics, Random House, Dark Horse Comics and Ape Entertainment.

Currently, Guillory is working on a breakthrough new ongoing comic series for Image Comics called CHEW, debuting in June, 2009.”
