Calling all parish young ladies

Grab your gown & head on down to the St. Charles Parish Festival Pageant

Are you a parish teen between the ages of 13 and 16 years old? Can you muster up a flawless three-word description of yourself? Are you an active member of the community who can well represent St. Charles Parish and let neighboring parishes know why our’s is dubbed the Parish of Plenty?

If so, then you should be a contestant in the St. Charles Parish Festival Pageant on July 28 at 7 p.m. scheduled to be held in the Destrehan High School auditorium.

Festival director Doreen Landry says that all applicants need to be residents of St. Charles Parish and have never been married or had a child and that, when chosen, the parish queen will compete on the state level.

“The St. Charles Parish Festival is a preliminary contest to select a parish queen to compete in a state festival and the 2008 LAFF Queen of Queens Pageant,” said Landry.

“The winner will travel throughout the state promoting St. Charles Parish and will also act as an ambassador for the parish.”

Calling all beauty queen contestants

All girls are invited to be a contestant in the St. Charles Parish Festival Queen’s Contest on Saturday, July 28 at 7 p.m. in the Destrehan High School auditorium.

All contestants must be a resident of St. Charles Parish and be between the ages of 13 to 16 yesrs of age for the Teen Pageant and 17 to 23 for the Miss Pageant.

The entry fee is $75 for the Teen Pageant and $100 for the Miss Pageant. There is also an optional photogenic category and the entry fee is $10.

Parish’s annual kids’ pageant on tap

NORCO – The 10th Annual St. Charles Parish of Plenty Pageant for children will be held on Saturday, July 28 at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 375 Spruce St. in Norco.

Proceeds benefit the St. Charles Festival Pageant Scholarship Fund and winners will be announced at the festival that evening at Destrehan High School.

The contest begins at 10 a.m. for Baby Miss girls 0 to 11 months, 10:10 a.m. for Tiny Miss girls 12 to 23 months, 10:20 a.m. for Precious Miss girls 2 to 3 years, 10:30 a.m. for Lil Miss girls 4 to 5 yesars, 10:40 a.m. for Petite Miss girls 6 to 7 years , 10:40 a.m. for Deb Miss girls 8 to 9 years and 10:40 a.m. for Jr. Miss girls 10 to 12 years.

The dress is Sunday best for all divisions with an entry fee of $40, which includes the photogeneic category.

The deadline to register is Friday, July 27, although registration will be accepted at the door with a $5 late entry fee.

Please also bring a photo and arrive 30 minutes prior to your child’s division time to check in.
