From writing workshops to karate, Nicholls State University offers camps for all
THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University is offering numerous youth activities over the summer months. They include:
•Academic Enrichment Program: (youth entering kindergarten through sixth grade) Monday through Friday from June 4 through July 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. Cost: $215.
•Art Classes: Session 1 – ages 6 to 8 on June 18 through 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Session 2 – ages 9 to 12 from June 18 through 22 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Session 3 – ages 9 to 12, June 25 through 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Session 4 – ages 6 to 8 from June 25 through 29 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost: $90 per session (registration deadline two weeks prior to first day of camp).
•Chip Durham Baseball Day Camp: (boys entering kindergarten through eighth grades) May 30 through June 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost: $100 (includes daily lunch and T-shirt) Call 985-381-9008 to register.
•J.P. Piper’s Boys Basketball Day Camp: (boys entering second through eighth grades) June 4 through 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost: $150 (includes T-shirt, ball and certificate) Call (985) 449-0321 to register.
•J.P. Piper’s Father and Son Day Camp: (boys entering first through eighth grades and dads of all ages) June 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost: $80 (includes camp T-shirts). Call (985) 449-0321 to register.
•Mark Cook’s Girls FUN-damentals Basketball Day Camp: (girls entering second through fifth grades) June 18 through 20 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost: $110 (includes camp T-shirt).
•Mark Cook’s Girls Basketball Skills Overnight Camp: (girls entering fifth through 11th grades) from June 8 to 10. Cost: $125 (includes overnight accommodations and camp T-shirt).
•Woodwind and Brass Day Camp: (music camp) Session 1 – students entering sixth through eighth grades from June 4 to 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Session 2 – students entering ninth through 12 grades from June 18 to 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost: $175 per session (includes daily lunch), or $200 with the inclusion of a one-hour private lesson (Room and board is available for an additional fee.) Registration deadline is May 29 for session 1 and June 11 for session 2.
•Nicholls Cheerleader Camp (ages 4 to 13) July 21 through 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fee: $60 (includes camp T-shirt).
•Child and Babysitting Safety for the Sitter: (ages 11 to 16) Wednesday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to noon. Cost: $60.
•Colonel Camper: (youth entering kindergarten through sixth grades) Monday through Friday from June 4 to July 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost: $675 (includes two camp T-shirts and daily lunch). This camp combines academic enrichment program, lunch option and sports and activities camp.
•Colonel in Training Junior Counselor Program: (ages 13 and up) from June 4 to July 20 from 1 to 5 p.m. Cost: $125.
•Creative Learner Program: (youth entering sixth through 12th grades) from June 11 to 29 from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Cost: $25 non-refundable application fee and $215 tuition due by June 1.
•Creative Scholars Dyslexia Camp: (youth entering fifth through ninth grades) from July 31 to Aug. 4. Cost: $25 non-refundable application fee due by July 1, $200 day camp fee or $395 camp fee with overnight stay, due by July 10 upon acceptance.
•Embracing Leadership Overnight Program: Session 1- girls ages 12 to 14 years from July 22 to 24. Session 2 – girls ages 15 to 16 years from July 26 to 28. Cost: $40 per session (includes housing, meals, two camp T-shirts and camp supplies).
•Karate Kamp: (ages 4 to 12)July 30 to Aug. 3, 9 a.m. to noon. Cost: $69 (includes camp T-shirt).
•Performing Arts Camp Presents: “Seussical Jr.” (best for students who have completed second grade) Session 1 – May 31 to June 28 from 8 a.m. to noon. Performance dates: 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 29 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 30. Session 2 – May 31 to June 28 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Performance dates: 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 1. Cost: $190 per session.
•Ready! Set! Dance!: (girls ages 4 to 14) from July 9 to 13 and July 16 to 20 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost: $124 (includes camp T-shirt).
•Science Adventures Camp – Gizmos, Gadgets and Goop: (youth entering kindergarten through sixth grades) Session 1 – from July 16 to 20 from 8 a.m. to noon. Session 2 – July 16 to 20 from 1 to 5 p.m. Fee: $109 per session (includes science kits and take-home materials).
•Science Adventures Camp – Space and Rocketry: (youth entering kindergarten through sixth grades) Session 1 – from July 23 to 27 from 8 a.m. to noon. Session 2 – July 23 to 27 from 1 to 5 p.m. Fee: $109 (includes science kits and take-home materials). Registration deadline July 9.
•Sports and Activities Camp: (ages 5 to 12) Session 1- June 4 to 8. Session 2 – June 11 to 15. Session 3 – June 18 to 22. Session 4 – June 25 to 29. Session 5 – July 2, 3, 5 and 6. Session 6 – July 9 to 13. Session 7 – July 16 to 20. All sessions meet from 1 to 5 p.m. Cost: $60 per session for 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 7, $50 for Session 5 (includes weekly field trips, snacks and camp T-shirt).
•Sports and Activities Last Chance Camp: (ages 5 to 12) Session 8 – from July 23 to 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost: $150 (includes weekly field trips, snacks and camp T-shirt).
•Boys and Girls Soccer Camp: (boys ages 5 to 12 and girls ages 5 to 18) farom June 5 to 7, 9 a.m. to noon. Cost: $85 (includes camp T-shirt and soccer ball).
•Star Power Theater Camp: (ages 5 to 21) Practices: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays from June 13 to July 25. Dress rehearsal: 4 p.m. on Friday, July 27. Performances: 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 28 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 29. Cost: $40 (includes camp T-shirt).
•Early Drop-Off Program: includes breakfast, activities and escort to camp from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Cost: $18 per session.
•Lunch Program: includes escort from morning camp, lunch, activities and escort to afternoon camp from 11:50 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost: $35 per session.
•Television Workshop: (ages 8 to 16) from July 30 to Aug. 3, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost: $185 (includes daily lunch).
•Think, Remember, Write: (youth entering second through fourth grades) from July 16 to 20 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Cost: $95.
•Girls Volleyball All Skills Camp: (girls ages 13 to 18) from June 25 to 27. Class meets from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 25 and 26, and 9 a.m. to noon on June 27. Cost: $100 (includes daily lunch and camp T-shirt).
•Girls Setter/Hitter Volleyball Camp: (girls entering ninth through 12th grades) June 27 and 28. Class meets 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 27 and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on June 28. Cost: $80 (includes daily lunch and camp T-shirt), or $110 for camp with overnight accommodations.
•All Skills Volleybabies: (girls ages 6 to 12). June 25 and 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost: $50.
