Arc of St. Charles holds Thrift store grand opening

Last Thursday’s ribbon cutting marked the Arc of St. Charles’ new Cajun Village Thrift Store site, as well as its grand opening.

The store, located at 114 Lakewood Drive in Luling, represents a new more high profile and accessible location for the store, which moved from its previous location on U.S. Highway 90 in Luling.

“This new location allows Cajun Village Thrift Store to become embedded in the community we serve,” said Kelsey Pollock, Arc’s community relations and media specialist. “We’re excited about having a location with more visibility, providing training to people with disabilities and providing a convenient location for people in St. Charles Parish.”

The River Region Chamber of Commerce hosted the ceremony, which was attended by parish officials, local businesses, organizations and community members.

Arc’s shredding operation, called Swamp Shredders, a commercial shredding business of paper for entities like the IRS, also is moving to the new Cajun Village Thrift Store location.

Arc’s bead store, called “Throw Me Something Mister Mardi Gras Merchandise,” also moved to a larger site.

Pollock said the Arc is also seeking volunteers to assist with its relocation process. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Kelsey Pollock at (985) 785-0971 ext. 4820 or kpollock@arcofstcharles.com.
