And the winners are …

River Parishes Fall Festival pageant queens are one of a kind and range from an LSU college student and a LaPlace mother of three to a 12-year karate instructor and a Destrehan High School honor student

The River Parishes Fall Festival crowned their 200-2008 Miss, Teen and Ms. Queens for the year – and we’ve got ALL the winners right here.

Ashley Wilking, 18, of LaPlace was crowned Miss Queen of Hearts. Brandie Clement, 15, of Norco was crowned Teen Queen of Hearts. Shalinda Austin-Daniel, 26, of LaPlace was crowned Ms. Queen of Hearts.

Wilking is a 2007 graduate of Reserve Christian School and is presently a freshman at Louisiana State University majoring in mass communications with a concentration in public relations and a minor in business.

She is employed by CC’s Coffee House and is a full-time life guard in the summer.

Wilking plans on becoming a motivational speaker and a spokesperson for the Meningitis Foundation as well as president and director of a National Kids for Kops Organization.

Wilking was awarded the Stephanie Wilking Youth Leadership Award by the St. John Parish Rotary Club and the AXA Achievement Community Service Scholarship

She graduated salutatorian of her senior class, was voted most outstanding female performer at the track and field regionals and went on to be a 2-year 100-meter hurdle state runner up, an All-American All-Star varsity cheerleader, and was named the LHSAA and Times-Picayune Athlete of the Year.

She is also a 12-year competitive swimmer and a 12-year karate student and certified instructor with a 2nd degree blackbelt.

Wilking also won the most photogenic and prettiest eyes awards. She is the daughter of Kevin and Paula Wilking.

The Miss Queen of Hearts runners up were: 1st runner up – Erika Beck, 17, of Destrehan; 2nd runner up – Alexa Martinez, 19, of Belle Chasse; 3rd runner up – Candace Lodrigue, 23, of Lafayette.

Beck was also the winner of the fashion award and is the daughter of Eric and Vivian Beck.

Martinez was awarded the prettiest eyes award and is the daughter of Dondra Nieves.

Lodrigue won the prettiest smile award and is the daughter of Frank Lodrigue and Delilah Lewis.

Clement, Teen Queen of Hearts, is a sophomore at Destrehan High School and is an honor roll student.

She is also a member of the Beta Club, received the Principal’s Scholar award for academic excellence and the physical science award.

Clement loves being with her family and friends, and also won the prettiest eyes and hair awards.

She is the daughter of Alan and Lisa Clement.

The Teen Queen of Hearts runners up were: 1st runner up – Paige St. Pierre, 15, of Norco; 2nd runner up – Victoria Pellerin, 15, of Montz; 3rd runner up – Laycee Mizell, 16, of Destrehan; 4th runner up – Melissa Berthelot, 16 of LaPlace; 5th runner up – Courtney Keller, 14, of Reserve; 6th runner up – Victoria Bourgeois, 15, of LaPlace.

St. Pierre was awarded the prettiest smile award and is the daughter of Lisa and Todd St. Pierre.

Pellerin won the most photogenic award and is the daughter of Donna and Spellman Pellerin.

Mizell is the daughter of Geraldine Mizell.

Berthelot is the daughter of A. J. and Tammy Berthelot.

Keller was awarded the fashion award and is the daughter of Tina and Ricky Keller.

Bourgeois is the daughter of Glenn and Lisa Bourgeois.

Shalinda Austin-Daniel, Ms. Queen of Hearts, is the wife of DeJuan Daniel and the mother of 3 children: Imari, Imani and DeJuan.

She is employed at the Office Depot in LaPlace and loves spending time with her family and friends.

Shalinda is looking forward to a wonderful year representing the River Parishes Fall Festival.

Precious Miss 3 to 4-year-old girls: Hannah Talarico – prettiest eyes and smile, most photogenic and queen. Ashlyn Gordon – prettiest hair and 1st runner up. Julia Haslauer – fashion and 2nd runner up. Delaney Hoffman – 4th runner up. Emma Pfeifer – 3rd runner up.
