…And the beat marches on

HHS marching band promenades in nation’s capital

This summer the Hahnville High School marching band was invited to participate and represent the state of Louisiana at the annual Independence Day Parade in Washington D.C. Many of the band members felt so honored that they were compelled to write letters of appreciation to commemorate the event.

In the following quotes that were taken from letters from the band, they express their thoughts and feelings regarding their trip to our nation’s capital, and to thank the community for making this once in a lifetime trip possible.

“Representing Louisiana in the Independence Day Parade was such an honor.  This once in a lifetime opportunity would not have been possible without the generous donations from the community.” ~Keithlynn Robert

“The experience of a lifetime that I had in Washington D.C. could not have been possible without the generous people of St. Charles Parish.  I want them to know that the resources they gave themselves truly had an impact on my young life.  To St. Charles Parish and Louisiana, I owe deep gratitude.” ~John Maikell

“Thank you!’ Those are the perfect words from the members of the HHS band to our community.  Thank you for your relentless efforts in all of our fundraisers.  Even though we had many, our community never wasted a minute to do all they could.  We were given the chance to represent our community and all of Louisiana–to show how proud Louisiana is.” ~Ashley Kittchner

“Perhaps one of the greatest journeys of our young lives, there is only one thing left to accomplish before this trip is complete…our thanks.” ~Timothy Sliwinski

“I would like to thank the community for putting their effort into helping the HHS band fo to Washington D.C.  I would also like to thank the school board office for the great donation.  I am very grateful for the donations, and the community will never be forgotten.” ~Brittany Candies
