Alpha Daughters gala draws about 400 people

About 400 people attended the Alpha Daughters of Zion annual fundraiser gala held March 5 at the Jerusalem Shriners located in Destrehan. Alpha Daughters of Zion is a partner agency with the United Way of St. Charles Parish.

The organization assists women and children who are victims of domestic violence throughout the River Parishes by providing shelter and other vital services.

Candice Bennatt, 2015 Miss Louisiana USA and advocate for domestic violence, was keynote speaker.  Bennatt encouraged parents to talk with their daughters and sons regarding teen dating violence.

Renowned singer Charmaine Neville gave her personal testimony of domestic violence, and Billy Raymond, CEO for the parish president was officiated the presentation.

Music and songs were provided by the group “Taken” from Houma.
