AES students learn about “crabitats”

Observing an aquarium sparked the students in Mrs. Knight’s 2nd grade class at Allemands Elementary School to extend their learning.

They are researching to find information on the habitat of hermit crabs using non-fiction references.

The students are also creating diagrams and organizing lists of what they need to build a “crabitat”.

Soon they hope to rescue some pet store hermit crabs and treat them to the best life a hermit can have outside of their first home.

Colin Melancon and Davis Cheramie are pictured.

The students would like to remind everyone to leave hermit crabs in their natural habitat. It’s best for the animals and the environment.
