2010 Catholic Youth Leadership winners

Knights of Columbus St. Charles Council 2409 is proud to announce its 2010 Catholic Youth Leadership Award winners.

The outstanding high school senior young man is Jean-Pierre DuRousseau of Paradis, and the outstanding high school senior young lady is Megan Gonzales of Luling. The awards are presented to Catholic high school seniors who demonstrate leadership qualities, scholastic achievement, and are active in their church, school and community.

DuRousseau is a honor student at Hahnville High School where he has served as flight commander and wing commander of the Air Force JROTC program helping that organization win numerous national awards. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Interact and Engineering Club.  At his church, St. John the Baptist, he has been an altar server and usher  and was named Altar Server of the Year in 2008. He plans to attend Louisiana Tech and major in aviation upon graduation. Jean-Pierre is the son of Sherral and Julia duRousseau of Paradis.

Gonzales, the daughter of Todd and Paula Gonzales of Luling, has been active at Holy Family Church serving as an altar server, music minister and a member of the youth group. She is a senior at Hahnville High School and has been involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, captain of the tennis team, Spanish Honor Society, Beta Club, National Honor Society, Student Council and a member of the symphonic band and marching band where she served as the drum major.

Both Gonzales and duRousseau will move on to area and state competition where they will be eligible for additional scholarships.
