Open auditions for the River Region Ballet’s 28th annual Nutcracker production will take place Saturday at the Lafon Performing Arts Center.
The arts center is located at 275 Judge E. Dufresne Pkwy. in Luling. River Region Ballet Executive Board member Michelle Dyess said there is a $15 audition fee to try out, and that the process is open to 4-year-olds through adults. Interested participants can register online at https://dancestudio-pro.com//rrballet or Saturday in-person 15 minutes before the designated audition call time.
Auditions will take place for all dancing, acro/tumble and theatrical roles. Theatrical role auditions for ages 4-12 will take place from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., while those 13 years old and older will audition from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Acro role auditions for individuals 7 years old and older will take place from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Dancing roles for children ages 4-6 will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and those ages 7-9 years old will audition from 12:15 to 1 p.m. Dance auditions for 10-12 year olds will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m., and everyone 13 and older will audition from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
Full-length shows of the production will be performed on Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. The Sugar Plum Fairy Matinee will take place on Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. The Nutcracker is included as part of the season ticket subscription currently on sale and single show tickets go on sale Sept. 1.
