Karl Burge, 55, of Destrehan was arrested on Wednesday (Jan. 15) and charged with two counts of possessing pornography involving juveniles (over 13 years of age).
Burge was a deputy with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest resulted from a joint investigation with Louisiana Bureau of Investigation’s Cyber Crime Unit, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office.
Burge was booked into Nelson Coleman Correctional Center in Killona.
JPSO spokesman Capt. Jason Rivarde said Burge, who was an employee of the Sheriff’s Office for 24 yrs in the traffic division, was immediately terminated upon notice of his arrest.
The investigation is ongoing.
