36,091 St. Charles Parish residents registered to vote in November elections

There is still time to register to vote in the November presidential and congressional elections. Oct. 7 is the last day to register in person or by mail, and Oct. 15 is the last day to register online through the Geauxvote Online Registration System, according to Brian Champagne, registrar of voters for St. Charles Parish.

St. Charles Parish has a high number of eligible voters registered to vote, according to Champagne. There are about 38,891 St. Charles Parish residents who are over 19 years old, and 36,091 residents who are currently registered. There are 17 more voters registered this year than in 2020, Champagne said.

Champagne said the most important thing for residents to know is their vote matters.

A valid Louisiana driver’s license or a Louisiana Special ID card is needed to register online through Geauxvote. If you register by mail, your application must be postmarked by Oct. 7.

On Nov. 5, Louisiana residents will cast their ballots for president and vice president of the United States. House Rep. Steve Scalise and House Rep. Troy Carter are both up for reelection. Louisiana voters will also vote on a proposed constitutional amendment. If passed, the amendment would require federal revenues received by the state from energy production, including alternative or renewable energy sources, to be deposited into the Coastal Protection and Restoration Fund.

A sample ballot is available online at stcharlesparish.gov. Early voting begins Oct. 18.
