Stay in state for college

Motiva believes that every Process Technology scholarship they award is more than just a check– it’s a personal invitation to local residents to stay in Louisiana.Motiva will provide four PTEC scholarships worth $3,000 each to St. John and St. Charles Parish residents — $12,000 in all.

AARP to offer free tax help
The AARP is sponsoring free tax help for low and moderate income taxpayers with an emphasis on the Senior Citizens of St. Charles Parish. For more information call 764-2529.

St. Charles Women’s Club annual Tea Cup auction
The St. Charles Women’s Club will host their annual Tea Cup Auction on March 18 at Chateau Country Club in Kenner. Doors open at 10:30am and tickets are sold in advance for $33.00 a ticket. Price includes lunch, dessert, beverage and four bidding tickets. To purchase tickets call Patty Picard at 785-9005.

Rock ’n Roll for Humane Society
A rock concert to benefit the St. Charles Humane Society will be held March 4 at 8:00 till Midnight at Ormond Plantation Manor. $12 Admission. Featuring “Hangface”, a Norwegian Rock Group touring the US. For more information contact Donna Nassar at 764-4086.

St. Charles Vaccination Day
The St. Charles Humane Society will hold a parish wide vaccination day on March 19. East bank locations are 8-8:15 in Montz at the Firehouse, 8:30-9:30 in Norco at the American Legion Home, 9:45-11:15 in Destrehan at Destrehan High School and 11:30-1:00 in St. Rose at St. Rose Primary School. The west bank locations and times are 8:00-9:00 at the Courthouse in Hahnville, 9:30-10:30 in Boutte at Majoria’s parking lot, 11:00-12:00 in Des Allemands at the First American Bank, 12:30-1:30 in Ama at St. Mark’s Church. Spring “Fais Do Do” on the river
St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Ama will hold a Fais Do Do on Sunday, March 12 at the church. There will be traditional cajun music and dancing. Music will be provided by “The Dirt Pile Ramblers”. Everyone is invited for cajun food, beer, wine, and soft drinks.

‘Frisco Fest’ spring arts & crafts festival
The San Franciso Plantation in Garyville, LA, will host the 3rd annual ‘Frisco Fest’ on March 11-12. Events include 25 mile bike tour, 1 mile fun run and 5k run, arts and crafts, plants, flowers, strawberries, kid activities, garden exhibits, educational programs by LSU Ag Master Gardeners, a Chef’s Choice cook-off and a washer board tournament.
