Humane Society adoption day

LULING – The St. Charles Humane Society will host an adoption day at the new St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter at 921 Rue La Cannes in Luling from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17.

The adoption fee is $80 for dogs and cats, which includes spaying and/or neutering.

The Humane Society also shows adoptable dogs at PetSmart, located at 6851 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, on Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. (except first Saturdays of the month).

Adoptable cats are also available at that location daily during regular business hours.

Girl Scouts garage sale benefit for St. John’s fallen deputies

DESTREHAN – The St. Charles Girl Scout Service Unit 216 will host a garage sale on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m at the St. Charles United Methodist Church located at 1905 Ormond Blvd. in Destrehan.

Proceeds from the garage sale will go to benefit the families of the St. John Sheriff’s officers killed in an August shooting.

Donations of items for sale are being accepted. The Girl Scouts ask that donations be clean and in good condition.

American Legion blood drive

HAHNVILLE – The American Legion will host a blood drive on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Charles Parish Courthouse located at 15045 River Road in Hahnville.
All donors will receive a Saints blood bank T-shirt.

Participants are encouraged to eat a healthy meal prior to donating. Charlie Oubre will serve a meal to all donors. Picture ID is required. Individuals taking medication for high blood pressure can donate. […]

Women’s Ministry of First Baptist painting class

LULING – The Women’s Ministry of First Baptist Church, located at 921 Paul Maillard Road in Luling, is inviting all interested ladies in St. Charles Parish to join them in a special night of food, fellowship and painting on Monday, Nov. 5 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Marie Keene will once again lead the group in creating a beautiful pre-drawn tree on canvas in painting as she gives a Bible lesson relating to it. No prior painting knowledge is necessary. Attendees are encouraged to bring finger food to share.

Participants can sign-up on the church bulletin board or call the church office and speak to Jill at (985) 758-6297 or leave a message so you can be put on the list so they will know how many canvasses to prepare.

The cost will be under $10 for supplies and lessons payable on the night of the class. […]
