Martin Luther King parade is one you don’t want to miss

The Martin Luther King Commemorative Organization hosts its annual celebration Monday, Jan. 15. It begins with a parade from the Westbank Bridge Park to the steps of the courthouse at 10 a.m.

The reading of the first-place essays from area students will begin at 12 p.m.

This year’s winners are:

Grades K-3
1st Place: George Rogers III

2nd Place: Andrew Celestine

Grades 9-12

1st Place: Brandi Smith
Destrehan High School

All winners will be awarded a certificate and a special trophy. First place winners will receive a savings bond.
