Scholarship chance for high school kids

Mardi Gras ball on tap – tickets on sale
HAHNVILLE – The St. Charles Recreation & Parks Department will hold its 11th annual Mardi Gras Ball at the Jerusalem Shrine Center, Feb. 19. Information: 985-783-6683.

Scrapbooking for adults at library
LULING – Meet once a month to scrapbook and share ideas. Come for an hour or stay the whole day on the third Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the West Branch Library, 105 Lakewood Drive. Info: 985-785-8471.

Story time at West Branch Library
LULING – Join in on the reading fun on Thursdays at the West Branch Library, 105 Lakewood Drive. Infants and children up to 2 years of age are invited to read and sing along with “Lapsit” at 9:30 a.m., and preschool aged children can come in for reading and crafts during “Storytime” at 10:45 a.m.

SCHOOLS

Hahnville High to stage talent show
BOUTTE – Hahnville High School presents its annual talent show on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at 6 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.

Ducks Unlimited baquet rescheduled
LULING – The West St. Charles Ducks Unlimited Annual Banquet has been rescheduled for Jan. 18, 2007 at the VFW Hall, 140 Angus in Luling at 5 p.m.

High school golf classic at Willowdale
LULING – The HHS Golf Team will host its 3rd Annual Golf Classic Jan. 27, 2007 at Willowdale Country Club beginning at noon. The teams will consist of a five-person scramble with an A player. The entry fee is $350.00 per team.

Little Orphan Annie is a feel-good winner
Mandeville High Theatre No. 1 Skipper Drive, Mandeville. 504-885-2000. Opus presents the JPAS production of the musical perennial based on the “Little Orphan Annie” comic strip.

Directed and choreographed by Kenny Beck, with Sarah Stembel in the title role, Kate Arthurs as Miss Hannigan, Alan Payne as Daddy Warbucks, Trina Beck, Lisa Anselmo, Bryce Bermingham, Dane Rhodes and Montana as Sandy the dog.
Performance at 7:30. Tickets $30; $27 seniors (62 and older); $22 students (13-22) and $15 children 12 and younger.

Oak Alley Plantation tours worth the drive
Oak Alley Plantation Holiday Tours 3645 Highway 18 ), Vacherie. Tours of the mansion in holiday dress are conducted hourly, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
