The curfew is being reinstated immediately in the parish, according to Sheriff Greg Champagne.
Champagne said that Parish Public Works crews are in the process of returning en mass to their stations and that Sightseeing will hamper both their efforts and that of his deputies doing their work.
‘We face a real danger of flooding this afternoon from both rain and tidal surge. Our dispatchers are beseiged with complaints of vehicles pushing water into homes,’ Champagne said. ‘There are no stores or gas stations available. There is no legitimate reason for residents to be cruising around our neighborhoods. Emergency reasons for travel will be considered.’
